On Thursday January 7th, Embrace Relief Wisconsin and TASWI volunteers served homemade meal at the Autumn West Safe Haven Homeless Facility in Milwaukee. The food included baked potato cubes with ground beef, rice pilaf, red lentil soup, green salad and semolina desert.
The Autumn West Safe Haven facility, funded by local and federal grant agencies, offers studio type apartments to qualified mentors for up to two years with no cost. The program manager, Matt Raymond thanked Embrace Relief and TASWI team for their support. The volunteers shared and eat the food with residents.
The residents enjoyed the food and the conversation.
Sevde N. Fersat, Volunteer Coordinator of Embrace Relief Wisconsin Branch said “It was definitely a meaningful experience, to see smiles on their faces, to share and eat our meal with them. As Tito Ortiz said “It’s always nice to look in the mirror at the end of the day and see that you helped somebody’s life!””
