Turkish Class for Adults

Turkish American Society of Wisconsin offers Turkish classes for adults. The classes are taught in 2-hour weekly sessions  during a 12-week period starting in mid-September and mid-January of each year.

If you are interested in taking Turkish class in the next semester, please click here to pre-register. There is no obligation and the first class is free!

Three levels are offered in these classes.

BEGINNER LEVEL

At this level, you will study the structures which will enable to communicate with ease in daily activities.

You also will learn some structures you will need to speak and write in such situations as

» Meeting people
» Describing people
» Telling and asking the time
» Speaking on the phone
» Asking and showing the way
» Expressing feelings (happiness, sadness)
» Asking for help
» Shopping
» Making comparisons

INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

At this level, you will study the structures which will enable to acquire language skills in order to use Turkish more effectively and in a more natural way.

Upon completing this course, you will be able to

» Tell your past experiences, places visited, activities performed
» Tell your plans about the future
» Narrate incidents indirectly
» Speak about problems and topics related with occupation
» Understand and certain jokes and tales
» Tell and comment upon certain idioms and proverbs
» Comprehend such simple written texts as newspaper items and letters as well as television and radio programs
» Tell in detail what you can do, what your abilities and wishes are.

ADVANCED LEVEL

The students who complete this level are able to speak extremely fluently about any topic. Also they are able to write their opinions and ideas on any subject using the correct rules of writing. At this level, some short stories are also studied in addition to newspaper and magazine articles.

Where: TASWI Cultural Center: 6011 S. 27th Street, Greenfield, WI 53221

When: Once a week for 2 hours. The exact day is decided a few weeks before the classes start based on student’s and instructor’s availability.

Cost: $200 + $30 textbook fee (Can be paid via cash/credit card or check payable to TASWI)

Minimum enrollment to open a class is 4 students. Maximum class size is 10.
